Listing Policy

This Listing Policy outlines the rules and guidelines that govern how items are listed on the I-Bid Auction platform (“Platform”). By listing items on the Platform, you (“Seller”) agree to comply with this Listing Policy, in addition to the I-Bid Auction User Agreement and other applicable policies.
- Eligibility to List
- To list items on the Platform, you must be a registered user with a valid account in good standing.
- You must have legal ownership of the items you are listing and the legal right to sell them.
- All items must comply with local laws and regulations, including South African laws governing the sale of goods.
- Prohibited Items
Sellers are prohibited from listing the following items:
- Illegal or stolen goods
- Counterfeit items
- Hazardous materials or substances
- Items infringing on intellectual property rights (e.g., copyrighted, trademarked items without permission)
- Weapons, explosives, and ammunition
- Live animals
- Tobacco
- Items that promote violence, hate, or discrimination
- Prescription drugs or any controlled substances
- Other items restricted by local laws or deemed inappropriate by I-Bid Auctions
I-Bid Auctions reserves the right to remove any listing that violates this policy at its sole discretion.
- Item Descriptions
- Accuracy: All listings must provide accurate and truthful descriptions of the items being sold, including details about the condition, brand, size, colour, age, and any defects or damages.
- Photos: You must include clear, high-quality images of the actual item. Stock images or misleading photos are not allowed.
- Prohibited Claims: Sellers may not make false, exaggerated, or unverifiable claims about an item (e.g., “rare,” “one of a kind”) without proper evidence to support such claims.
- Listing Fees and Pricing
- Listing Fees: I-Bid Auctions may charge a fee for listing items on the Platform. Fees will be disclosed at the time of listing.
- Pricing: Sellers must set an appropriate starting price and, if applicable, a reserve price for auctions. Prices must reflect fair market value, and misleading pricing practices (e.g., price inflation) are prohibited.
- Auction Duration and Ending
- Auction Duration: Sellers can choose the duration of the auction, but it must comply with the platform’s allowable time frames (e.g., 1 day, 3 days, 7 days, etc.).
- Auction Ending: Once an auction has ended, the Seller is obligated to sell the item to the highest bidder if the reserve price (if any) has been met. Cancelling a sale after an auction has closed is prohibited, except in cases of buyer fraud or other exceptional circumstances approved by I-Bid Auctions.
- Shipping and Delivery
- Responsibility: The Seller is responsible for shipping the item to the winning bidder in a timely manner, as per the terms specified in the listing.
- Shipping Costs: Sellers must clearly disclose shipping costs in the listing. Hidden or misleading shipping charges are prohibited.
- Packaging and Handling: Sellers must ensure that items are properly packaged to prevent damage during transit.
- Returns and Refunds
- Return Policy: Sellers must clearly state their return policy in the listing, including conditions under which returns are accepted and who bears the cost of return shipping.
- Consumer Protection: Sellers must comply with South Africa’s Consumer Protection Act (CPA) regarding the right of buyers to return items that are defective, not as described, or otherwise misrepresented.
- Compliance with Laws
Sellers must ensure that all items listed, and transactions conducted on the Platform comply with South African laws and regulations, including but not limited to:
- The Consumer Protection Act (CPA)
- Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA)
- The Counterfeit Goods Act
- Suspension and Termination
I-Bid Auctions reserves the right to suspend or terminate your account if you:
- Repeatedly list prohibited items or fail to comply with this policy
- Engage in fraudulent activity or misrepresentations in your listings
- Violate any laws or regulations governing the sale of goods
- Reporting Violations
