Listing Policy

Last Updated: 03 June 2025

This Listing Policy outlines the rules and guidelines that govern how items are listed on the I-Bid Auction platform (“Platform”). By listing items on the Platform, you (“Seller”) agree to comply with this Listing Policy, in addition to the I-Bid Auction User Agreement and other applicable policies.

  1. Eligibility to List
    1. To list items on the Platform, you must be a registered user with a valid account in good standing.
    2. You must have legal ownership of the items you are listing and the legal right to sell them.
    3. All items must comply with local laws and regulations, including South African laws governing the sale of goods.
  2. Prohibited Items

Sellers are prohibited from listing the following items:

    • Illegal or stolen goods
    • Counterfeit items
    • Hazardous materials or substances
    • Items infringing on intellectual property rights (e.g., copyrighted, trademarked items without permission)
    • Weapons, explosives, and ammunition
    • Live animals
    • Tobacco
    • Items that promote violence, hate, or discrimination
    • Prescription drugs or any controlled substances
    • Other items restricted by local laws or deemed inappropriate by I-Bid Auctions

I-Bid Auctions reserves the right to remove any listing that violates this policy at its sole discretion.

  3. Item Descriptions
    1. Accuracy: All listings must provide accurate and truthful descriptions of the items being sold, including details about the condition, brand, size, colour, age, and any defects or damages.
    2. Photos: You must include clear, high-quality images of the actual item. Stock images or misleading photos are not allowed.
    3. Prohibited Claims: Sellers may not make false, exaggerated, or unverifiable claims about an item (e.g., “rare,” “one of a kind”) without proper evidence to support such claims.
  4. Listing Fees and Pricing
    1. Listing Fees: I-Bid Auctions may charge a fee for listing items on the Platform. Fees will be disclosed at the time of listing.
    2. Pricing: Sellers must set an appropriate starting price and, if applicable, a reserve price for auctions. Prices must reflect fair market value, and misleading pricing practices (e.g., price inflation) are prohibited.
  5. Auction Duration and Ending
    1. Auction Duration: Sellers can choose the duration of the auction, but it must comply with the platform’s allowable time frames (e.g., 1 day, 3 days, 7 days, etc.).
    2. Auction Ending: Once an auction has ended, the Seller is obligated to sell the item to the highest bidder if the reserve price (if any) has been met. Cancelling a sale after an auction has closed is prohibited, except in cases of buyer fraud or other exceptional circumstances approved by I-Bid Auctions.
  6. Shipping and Delivery
    1. Responsibility: The Seller is responsible for shipping the item to the winning bidder in a timely manner, as per the terms specified in the listing.
    2. Shipping Costs: Sellers must clearly disclose shipping costs in the listing. Hidden or misleading shipping charges are prohibited.
    3. Packaging and Handling: Sellers must ensure that items are properly packaged to prevent damage during transit.
  7. Returns and Refunds
    1. Return Policy: Sellers must clearly state their return policy in the listing, including conditions under which returns are accepted and who bears the cost of return shipping.
    2. Consumer Protection: Sellers must comply with South Africa’s Consumer Protection Act (CPA) regarding the right of buyers to return items that are defective, not as described, or otherwise misrepresented.
  8. Compliance with Laws

Sellers must ensure that all items listed, and transactions conducted on the Platform comply with South African laws and regulations, including but not limited to:

    • The Consumer Protection Act (CPA)
    • Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA)
